How can a marketing consultant help your business?

Marketing is one of the key elements to growing your business.  Without marketing, no one will know you or your business.

Marketing comes in a variety of forms.  I’ve been told from a few of my clients that “they don’t do any marketing”, I just looked at them, like wow, really!

I just can’t believe that someone who doesn’t market themselves or their business get customers.

These clients had customers and making money, but the thing is that they were marketing, they may not have been putting ads in local newspapers, mailing postcard or handing out flyer etc….  But, they were using online marketing methods, such as creating a website and linking their website to other related websites to draw traffic to their website.

Another marketing strategy they were using was joining local business organizations and chamber of commerce and attending their events; with this type of marketing they were able to make connections, build relationships and created a referral leads which is a marketing strategy.

I guess they didn’t consider those activities as marketing their business because it wasn’t much effort involved or they were doing something they do on a daily basis anyway – engaging in conversations with other people.
Those marketing strategies work for some entrepreneurs and their business can become successful at it, but for some it doesn’t, they may need to expand their marketing strategies to other methods that work for them.

HIRING A MARKETING CONSULTANT

As entrepreneurs, we tend to want to handle every aspect of our business, but the reality is, if our goal is to grow and become successful, we have to let some things go.

So here are 3 reasons why you should hire a marketing consultant:

  1. Consultants are experts in their field, a reputable consultant already knows what to do; if marketing is not your thing, let a professional handle the responsibility.
  2. Entrepreneurs’ can benefit from a marketing consultant to evaluate their current marketing and help them improve or expand to other methods.
  3. You simply don’t have the time because you are focused on managing other areas of your business.
Small business owners and entrepreneurs may hesitate to hiring a marketing consultant because they think it is not in their budget. Most consultants are flexible with their rates, in other words you may consider hiring a marketing consultant hourly or project based rates.  Overall it could be a cost effective solution to branding your business, increasing your revenue and reducing your expenses.
